Paleomagnetic Sample Boxes

8cc Boxes These boxes were designed by Drs. Brooks Ellwood and Michael Ledbetter specifically for paleomagnetic sampling of sediments. The inner dimensions are 2 x 2 x 2 cm (8 cc), thereby eliminating shape effects in critical applications. There is a small air escape hole and a raised orientation arrow molded into the inside of the box. The clear plastic from which they are molded is extremely rugged and can be forced into hard sediment without breaking.

1"x1"x3/4" Boxes These polystryrene sample boxes measure 1" x 1" x 3/4" and are the same as used by the Ocean Drilling Program and most major core depositories in the U.S. for paleomagnetic sampling of wet sediment cores. They are also ideal for protecting samples of semi-consolidated sediments which have been carved from exposures in the field.
