Trimble introduces Pathfinder Office software, the next generation of GPS
data processing software which is now included in all GPS Pathfinder
mapping systems. The software is Microsoft Windows-based and
features an intuitive, easy-to-use interface that can greatly increase
productivity. Pathfinder Office includes a batch processing system that
allows hands-off processing of data from downloading data to export to a
GIS or CAD system. Pathfinder Office software is the result of Trimble's
years of experience with GPS data processing and incorporates many new and
unique features.
Features of Pathfinder Office Software
Easy-to-use Windows-based Interface (Windows 3.1, 95 and NT)
Pathfinder Office software is Microsoft Windows-based and features a very
simple and easy to use interface. All major functions are accessed with the
mouse through menus and buttons. An extensive On-Line Help system is
available to guide you and answer any questions you might have.
Batch Processing Efficiency
A sophisticated batch processing system allows you to set up the system to do
the work while you are gone - even over night. Pathfinder Office software
can be configured to automatically transfer data from your data collector
to a PC, differentially correct the data, and export it in a format compatible
with your GIS or CAD system. When you return, your data has been processed
and you can move onto the next step in your project.
Export GIS and CAD Systems Quickly and Easily
Pathfinder Office software makes exporting GPS data to your GIS or CAD
system a simple process. Using the menu system, you can set all of the
parameters for your export files. Once the initial set up is done, you can
save it as an Export Setup. This allows you to export data repeatedly
without going through set up each time.
Background Maps Let You See Where You've Been
With Pathfinder Office software, you can display a background map behind your
GPS data. This allows you to see where you have collected data and how it
relates to features that you already have information on, such as roads or
property boundaries. A wide variety of data formats can be used for
background files including DXF, Shapefile, TIFF, and BMP.
Time Line Lets You See Your Data in a New Way
The Time Line in Pathfinder Office software lets you visualize your data
from a chronological point of view. Individual features can be located by
the time they were collected. For example if you wanted to review data
collected just before a lunch break, you can simply look for that time
period on the Time Line. Highlighting the feature on the Time Line also
highlights it on the map display.
Advanced Data Dictionary Editor Makes It Easy
Creating effective data dictionaries that speed your data collection and
insure you data is compatible with your GIS or CAD database is easy using
the Data Dictionary Editor. Features with attributes can be added,
edited or moved to a new place in the data dictionary. A graphic display
makes building a data dictionary far easier by helping you understand its
structure at a glance.
Quick Plan Software to Plan Your Data Collection
Pathfinder Office software includes Quick Plan for planning your GPS data
collection sessions. Quick Plan is integrated into Pathfinder Office and
can be accessed through the main menu. It provides information on
satellite azimuth and elevation, PDOP, number of satellites available, and
sky plots showing the path of satellites during the time of data collection.
Full Project Control Makes Data Management Easy
Keeping track of your data files is an easy task with the project management
functions in the Pathfinder Office software. Individual sub-directories
can be created within the project directory for base files, export files,
and backup files.
